Verizon Wireless - Cooling Tower Replacement
Verizon Wireless underwent a project to replace cooling towers that were end of life for a 200,000 sf Network Equipment Center facility which houses numerous data centers and administrative spaces. Wick Fisher White provided mechanical and electrical design services for the replacement and upgrade of four existing 500 ton cooling towers. The project involved demolition of an entire condenser water system and replacement with four new 500 ton stainless steel towers with independent basins. Each tower includes a sweeper cleaning system, independent pumps, heaters, all of which are connected to the existing chiller plant. In addition, the new towers have a catwalk connecting approximately 12 feet above ground. For the duration of the project our team also provided design for temporary cooling and phased the project so that the building could be operational during construction.
