Shoppers World Redevelopment

Shoppers World is an open-air shopping center located in Framingham, MA, and is positioned in the center of the Golden Triangle, the largest retail destination in the Boston area. The center underwent a redevelopment project that encompassed the demolition and reconstruction of existing structures to create modern retail spaces, including a grocery store, retail buildings, and a Starbucks drive-thru.

The first element involved the transformation of the existing 47,974 sf Old Navy and Barnes and Noble to accommodate a 40,000 SF Grocery store owned by Amazon, along with a 6,000 SF retail building designed for potential tenants. This included the design of a warm, dark shell for the grocer's area. Since the landlord was responsible for providing the HVAC equipment, extensive coordination was required with the tenant team.

The redevelopment also included the demolition of an existing TGIF building to create space for a new outparcel building. This new retail building, also designed for three potential tenants, included a restaurant space. Wick Fisher White provided MEP engineering design for the warm, dark shells of these spaces.

Additionally, we provided the MEP design for a new ground-up Starbucks drive-thru. We coordinated closely with the Starbucks design criteria to ensure that the MEP systems conformed to their published standards. Since this was a new building, our team and the civil engineer worked together to bring utilities to the building (power, gas, water, storm, and sanitary).

In summary, Wick Fisher White's expertise in MEP engineering and close coordination ensured the successful realization of these retail developments at Shoppers World.
