Verizon Pennsylvania UT-C Band Upgrades for Central Offices

As part of the upgrade of 5G wireless telephone service in northern Pennsylvania, Wick Fisher White surveyed thirteen Verizon Central Offices to ascertain existing HVAC and emergency generator capacities. Our team then designed upgrades to both in order to achieve N+1 redundancy and supporting the new 5G equipment cooling and electrical loads. New diesel generators with automatic transfer switches were designed at four of the locations. All sites had HVAC systems modified and expanded by the addition of addition DX refrigeration with ductwork distribution. Automatic controls were modified to handle the new equipment at each site. Due to the aggressive schedule, generators were pre-ordered using a pre-purchase specification.
