GlaxoSmithKline opened a new global vaccines R&D center at 14200 Shady Grove Road in Rockville, MD. The site is one of three global vaccines R&D centers for GSK. Wick Fisher White was responsible for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design for the renovation of the administrative spaces. The existing space consisted of a multi-story building which was divided into three wings. Included in the renovated space was approximately 8,000 square feet on the second floor and the entire third floor in wing A. In addition, a total of 20,000 square feet of space would be renovated in Wings B and C in various locations on the second and third floors. The administration and laboratory area is an open floor plan to better foster collaboration while allowing for a flexible workplace.
