Holy Redeemer Health System - Senior Behavioral Health Unit Expansion & Relocation
This project re-imagined and expanded the existing Senior Behavioral Health Unit from a fourteen bed single unit located on the third floor of the hospital to a twenty-four bed, two unit department located on the second floor of the hospital. With a diverse group of older residents requiring inpatient behavioral health services, Holy Redeemer Health System prioritized converting and expanding a small medical-surgical unit to accommodate a higher census while also correcting unit deficiencies in order to facilitate healing. As a result, it was desirable to split the unit so patients functioning at both higher and lower cognitive levels received appropriately-developed therapies.
Wick Fisher White provided engineering services for the replacement of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure, which included the demolition of the entire area down to the building structure and removal of all existing HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, fire protection and electrical equipment and distribution systems.
Our design included two new roof mounted air handling unit and associated duct distribution (complete with anti-ligature air devices), exhaust air fans, anti-ligature plumbing fixtures, appurtenances and distribution piping (sanitary, sanitary vent, cold water, hot water, hot water recirculation), fire protection distribution piping (complete with anti-ligature sprinkler heads), anti-ligature luminaires, normal and essential (three branches) power distribution, panelboards, receptacles, nurse call system and devices, security devices and information technology distribution and devices.
